A 47-year-old man now faces a murder charge following a fatal Townsville stabbing death. The incident, classified as a domestic violence offence, occurred on Friday in the central suburb of Heatley.

Authorities responded to a unit complex on Narangi Street around 3:00 PM yesterday. Officers discovered a 53-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to his leg. They immediately administered first aid at the scene.

However, despite the rapid response, the injured man sadly died a short time later. Queensland Police confirmed his death.

Police subsequently took a 47-year-old man into custody. He was known to the deceased. Charges for murder, specifically as a domestic violence offence, were laid overnight.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Townsville Magistrates Court this morning. Meanwhile, the crime scene at the Narangi Street unit complex remains active as investigations continue into the Townsville stabbing death.
